in a rental if something sucks you should change it

i hated that ugly pink marble tile so i got some pretty wrapping paper from sam flax and taped it up. tape is the most ghetto thing i could have used, i know. but it's only temporary. and if it starts to peel away i will fix it with spray adhesive. quite honestly the whole time i was taping it up there i was thinking there is no way this is going to work or look good. but it does.
here is the before:

here is the after:

and yes, it's a little wonky but it's less noticeable in person.

  5. no wonkiness visible here. I have paid "damage fees" in every apartment I had ever rented as I HAD to paint the walls. All white, as in calming well done white, is one thing, but white walls, beige carpet, and cheap white trim was too yuck for me.

  9. My sister was in the middle of a kitchen makeover one Christmas and wrapping papered her walls with red foil paper. When she told me on the phone she had done that I had SERIOUS doubts, but it looked pretty cool in person. So, I know yours looks pretty cool too.

  11. Not only does it look good, it KICKS ASS! Clever, girlie, you! I'm freakin' obsessed with any Moorish/Moroccan-looking pattern these days, so this whole get up rocks my world. I see an Apartment Therapy feature in your future!

  19. Lovin it. WHY WAIT TO DECORATE???? Seriously, you gotta live it it, why not? Try 3m spray adhesive. The lower the # you pick, the less permanent.

  20. We rented for years in 3 different apartments, I always painted the walls in my colours (with black doors), painted out the kitchen cupboards and installed new hardware, installed new wall to wall carpet, new kitchen flooring, all new light fixtures, new mirror in the bathroom, new blinds on the windows...we were always asked to please leave the paint colours for touch ups and please leave all the improvements the way they are...and always got my deposit back... so the answer to your question is yes do what you want...you live there and have to enjoy your life there...
The paper looks wonderful on the fireplace, enjoy your xmas in your beautiful home...Happy Holidays
