Cool'rs. I tried a similar look with an old, brass lamp my mother had. It's a floor lamp, with a "clam shell" brass shade - do you remember those?
Anyway, painted this same shade of orange to go with her otherwise neutral scheme in the home office. Not terrible, but also not nearly as great as yours.

thanks everyone! i am excited for its burst of color moment to happen in my gray keeping room/entry room/room with all the furniture we don't know what to do with and generally dislike. it's a very dark room with not a lot of natural light so i am hoping this helps. it should come in a few days and then i will put it together, style the room a bit and take a picture.

alek it is supposed to be mid 70's day and high 50's night next weekend. but count on up to 10 degrees higher. i say maybe bring a sweater for the eaerly morning and evening but you will not need it during the day. keep the boots at home :(
LOVE it!!!!! you always have me cracking up... i even read your psots to my hubby. anyway, totally agree that so many of the homes in the mags feel unattainable... i REALLY miss domino & CL!!!!! ahhhh my 2 faves!!!!
