"alice in wonderland on acid"

several months ago living etc magazine did a spread on abigail ahern's place in london. i flipped out b/c i was just getting into that dark, brooding cozy space thing and of course flip flopping back to the all white, bright, light space (still am), but seeing this just made it palpable. in fact this space went from all white to this dark gray(farrow and ball down pipe). we were kindred spirits it seemed. she combines high end pieces with more affordable decor like changing an entire room's look with paint. her home will forever be one of great individuality for me. she stepped outside the box a bit and created a look for herself. she is the epitome of quirky eclecticism. and she has a great eye...

..and lucky for us she has a new book filled with yummy glossy photography and loads of tips for creating a fabulous space on a tight budget:

That hot pink against the grey....wowee! great post to come home to...I think you should go dark. Anyone can do bright and airy.

I fell in love with her style, too! I dunno when or if I am going to get over the grey thing :-)... but I really love her take with the darker palate and pops of vivid color. I think that's gotta be really hard to pull off, but she does it RIGHT!

and love how the grey goes from moody to almost airy. Some are calming, other invigorating- like the bright pink! Looks like a winner of a book.

Long ago & far away - a Seattle couple (hubs was an architect) had a bungalow that was painted very much the same inside. They incorporated a lot of eggplant amongst the greys & for the 70's, it was incredible. Abigail's home is off the charts & I want her book! Thanks for the intro, you made my day.

You, me and Abigail - definitely kindred spirits. The whole tug of war between all white and dark spaces is making me insane. I'm thinking of maybe doing one dark room to see if that will satisfy this need.

I feel like you read my mind. I have been swooning over her blog for weeks. Recently moved, have a aways been a light and airy girl and am so on the fence as this brooding, rich look in creeping in and I am stuck!!!! Not sure which way to go, sort of sway either way by the hour!!!!
