california style house in.....california

i know california style is pretty broad and i am usually not a fan of a lot of it if only for the fact that it is its own "look". and it only seems to work in california. BUT, there is an elegant simplicity to it that i really really do like.
sorry these pics are so small...they aren't on the design firms website. m design. so go there if u want to see the bigness...

that is a bookshelf in the background with a makeshift bar on top...love that.

a little closer...loving the terrariums on the table..

i would have such a hard time keeping these shelves so sparse...my inner hamish bowels would have to emerge and take over..

the shelves back there are papered..

see....

and i am never mad at the martinique/beverly hills hotel wallpaper...
really these bullshit tiny pics don't do any of it justice...check out the website for more more more fabulous house tours...

Loving this home & will be scoping out the site. Long ago I ran across that wallpaper on ebay, that's famous for being used at the Beverly Hills Hotel. Can't find it now & only wish I snagged it. Every time I see it I think 'dumbshit'.

Hope your not freezing this weekend like we are in Houston? x

I remember making terrariums in elementary school in the seventies. They are bit high maintenance-the moisture level has to be just right. I often like the Claifornia bungalow style-I'm quite partial to craftsman, mission and arts and crafts. Where I live many dumbfuck developers built pastel coloured stucco houses all over the place in the eighties. They don't look good in our greyish light and the leaky-condo syndrome plagued many of them as well. construction that works well in California doesn't always work in non-Claifornia like climates. Apparently it took twenty years to figure that out.
