after a long battle in my head i have decided that the buffet will be painted farrow and ball's hague blue:
it is the perfect shade of sapphire-ish-peacock-y-mysterious blue. it will get 2 coats of oil based high gloss love. below is someone's bureau painted in hague blue. you love it too don't you?

Yaaaaaaay!!!! Love it, love it, love it! Can't wait to see the finished piece in all its glory!
Perrrrrrrrrrrrrfect!
it's going to look fabulous! is that really your granny? she's so cool :)
Yes, this color rocks! LOVE it!
I agree; color is fabulous. I am hunting for a darkish blue for my office walls, this may be perfecto! I think Gran rocks!
here's my advice - roll it on where you can. with those cheap throwaway sponge rollers.
with high gloss oil all brush marks show (you can see in that image of the painted one you posted)
Well, I voted for orange but I suppose I can get on board with this blue since it is TOTALLY GORGEOUS. Can't wait to see the final product!
JUST LOVELY!!!! How about gold for the pulls... they seem to be making a come-back!
how I loooove this colour. fantastic.

i think it will be fab- gold/crystal knobs.
LOVE IT! That's the color I want to paint my room. I know I sound stupid and sheltered, but who, what, and where do I get Farrow and Ball? I live in a very rural area. I do have access to all the major home chains but some would be a bit of a drive. Not a problem, but I feel the need to explain my complete lack of knowledge. Thank you! Good luck with the bureau! It will be gorgeous.
Nashay
nashay- farrow and ball (unfortunately) doesn't sell at any of the chains. i.e. lowes, home D, sherwinn williams. in fact there is only ONE store in Atlanta that i know of that sells it and that is at a benjamin moore store on roswell rd. in buckhead. armistead paints it's called. the best thing for you to do would be to go to the farrow and ball website and click on the retail link to see who in your area sells it. your zip code should be all that's needed. in fact for me i have to have my paint shipped from canada b/c i am using oil based and the store that sells it here doesn't do the mixing in house. lame and a pain but i think worth it for such a small piece. if i were using it on walls i wouldn't have it shipped from anywhere unless i were filthy rich. but who is these days??
hope that helps.
Oops! Forgot to tell you how much this is gonna rock, and that I can't wait to see your buffet all dolled up!
I second Jill - think unlacquered brass hardware will look incredible.
nope, i love the olive door color more
Speaking of boners - this color is as gran says, "kick ass".
