emcee gervais

i am a huge fan. and tomorrow he hosts the golden globes. this could be very very awesome or very very uncomfortable. my thinking is that it will be both. he talks to the bbc about it here.

be sure to come back on monday for my recap on the pretty and the ugly of the night's frocks, faces and coiffs. here is last year's oscar fashion recap.

so...watch the globes on sunday and lets meet back here on monday for a discussion.

have an enjoyable weekend lovers.

I would be very skeptical about "mercury in the mouth" as a source of minor, seasonal skin problems. You might want a second opinion on that. Really. I'd worry about the "detox" stuff more. All sounds a little woo woo to me.

Also you might want to try washing with over-the-counter Nizoral shampoo.

anon, i appreciate your concern but it's not woo woo at all. and the detox stuff is all plant based so its perfectly safe.
i have used nizoral before and while it works on skin issues it doesn't get to the root of the problem, it's just a bandaid.
most people with season skin problems can trace the root of the problem to something they are putting in their body that the body is trying to remove by it's own detox process. the skin is the largest organ we have and it is the number one place that the body shows toxicity. some people more than others.

Ben LOVES Ricky! We might just have to wait for your recap, though, as start time will probably be something like 11 pm down here - we're weenies like that.

Weird on the mercury intake - is there anything you can ingest to 'mop' it up out of your system?

ALSO - BIG congrats on winning the KICK ASS lamp from Copy Cat Chic -I'm so jealous! I don't think I could win a giveaway, even if I submitted an "anon" comment to my own freakin' blog. I expect a full frontal post on where you use the lamp!

Cheers, doll!

I LOVE..Ricky. When he's on the Graham Norton show, he's hilarious. I love his sarcasm; our kind of family humor.

Mercury in the mouth..WtF?! Is that like hoof and mouth? Really, hope you feel better all over like soon.

Totally agree with your reply to anon - not woo-woo at all! Treat from within as well as maintain pure holiness for anything that goes into your body (transdermally and via mouth). Good luck.

You know I'm not a t.v. watcher, but I always tune into the golden globes and oscars. Cannot wait!

i hope the detox goes well. i have to get all my wisdom teeth out this year (hopefully by spring) so maybe we can commiserate about the oral torment to come. bleh.

I love me some Ricky Gervais! A friend loaned me a dvd of the original Office series a few years back, and it's absolutely snort-laughing funny.

Hi. I agree with Anonymous about getting a second opinion regarding the source of your rash. I used to see a well-respected dentist in Manhattan who told me for years mercury fillings are better left undisturbed and given he could have made loads of money off me by removing them, I've never forgotten this. Also, mercury poisoning generally doesn't manifest itself in this manner so probably another reason to get a second opinion. I hope you'll book an appointment with a dermatologist, too, whom I suspect may have cite other causes. At any rate, I hope you're better soon.

On a lighter note, love Ricky Gervais, as well, and thought he was brilliant a couple of nights ago with Conan O'Brien handling the awkward subject matter of NBC, Jay Leno, etc. I predict he'll do v. well tomorrow night. Looking forward to your Monday post.

I replaced all my fillings with that white ceramic stuff a few years ago, not because they were bothering me but because I am getting on in years and so were my fillings. My dentist gives me xanax and laughing gas so I practically look forward to dental work, it's almost as good as going out for drinks. This is to say that the replacement did not hurt at all.

My skin has been slightly less winter-dried-out since I started sleeping with a vaporizer pointed almost right at it.

I was just looking at that very issue of Country Living pictured in the post further down. It was handed down to me by the friend with whom I will be drinking cava and watching the Globes tomorrow!
