rug heaven

how can you not love a place with 6.6780980.10vabillion dollars worth of rug company rugs all over every floor surface therein? you can't. that's how. christopher and suzanne sharp's (aka mr. and mrs. rug company) london home is featured in the march issue of vogue (U.S.) and when i saw it i nearly fell out. i also exploded with rage and bitter jealousy. i love the simple, shabby english country style mixed with modern elements like rugs, and lucite and art and funky chairs. it's my fave look (lately).. anyway...the photos are terribly small and that makes me want to punch hamish bowles in the face. so go here to see them big or go buy the vogue with tina fey on the cover.

bar cart photos coming later. promise. remember when in posts past i told you my house was darker than the underside of grandpa's saggy balls? well...the room the bar cart sits in is the darkest so i have to wait til around noon ish to get the pics.

I have always loved the homes in Vogue - it's really the only reason I buy it.

Can't wait to see the bar cart!

This house is not that great, in fact, it's a 'dog's breakfast'...have you been imbibing from the bar cart????

The photo's are terribly small because the woman on the yellow chair is a pixie.

The blue couches with that zingy green rug and those vintage modern yellow chairs, hell yeah! Gawd, I love this place. I always imagined what it would be like to live in one of their rug ads. I guess this is the answer. It would be mighty fine living! I bought this issue just for this spread, now I need to get one of those plastic sleeve page protectors for it, because I can not stop drooling!

Oh and the bar cart, hurry the hell up! I can't wait for the reveal!

@Anonymous - "the woman on the yellow chair is a pixie." ha ha! I totally thought that was an 8-year-old boy! And I thought that 8-year-old boy was a dead ringer for the Homer character in "Near Dark" (Kathryn Bigelow's best film, IMHO).

that place is incredible! i really can't pick a favorite but the turquoise/teal blue living area w/those blue couches-WOW. everyone room has so many layers of gorgeousness. thank you for sharing this one! immediately going to my "design" files. can't wait to see the bar cart but totally understand, my house is like a cave.

Rugs must be on the brain today.
Love it! Their use of color is sooooooo good. And they've always had such great designs for their rugs.

My favorites are the dining room and the last picture - I love that green dresser with the turquoise trim!

I hate my dark cave house too, for that reason. Anytime I think about photographing something, it never turns out well unless it's the middle of the day! Totally sympathize.

Fun fact. I only take baths. I mean I physically can take a shower, but I choose not to after 4 years in boarding school being forced to shower with no hot water in the dead of winter. Anyway. That bathroom? With the fab wall and the claw foot tub and the rug?
THAT would definitely be the best bath of my bathing career. For sure.

Ooh, I have to get that magazine. And I'm cracking up at the idea of punching Hamish Bowles in the face.

i like it, i think it's very cool and fun and full of energy. also, i don't think it would be difficult to emulate on a more modest budget (if you score big with the finds)

I need an amazing area rug that will transform my living room on the cheap. Turns out that is a very tall order. Le sigh.
