my liberty of london target swag and fabric purchases (or things that make you want to hump stuff)

first off let me say that here in ATL they were putting shit out early. which made me mads. i did not have my game face on last week when i spotted some picture frames. hence i didn't buy the frames. here is what i did buy:

shirt for supermike:

dresses for fiona:

a bathing suit for fiona, bra for me and 2 candles (violet and fig):

candle lit up on my dresser:

and then....
yesterday my mother in law and i went to the fabric store where i purchased a yard of this:

possibly for this chair:

what do you think? the fabric is gorgeous in person, lots of pink and red but i am afraid it's too much. but that could just be my fear of color commitment talking. would it be too much to do the whole chair and ottoman in this fabric?

i also got a yard of this love:

need some advice please.
you should know that the fabric i WANT for this chair is the lee joffa confetti fabric in the white with black dots. but i can't afford it and i looked everywhere for something similar- no dice.
these fabrics were/are intended for curtains to hide my cat's poop box. but when i put that suzani fabric on that chair i was like holy balls of shit this is beautiful. i need this fabric on something more than a small curtain for the cat!!

Ahh..I"m loving the white and pink fabric!

They are putting it out early here in Athens too.. Hmph.

Can't wait to go check it out when I'm more mentally prepared!

Fantastic finds... despite not having game face on. :)

I am so no help with this - I am totally afraid of patterns on furniture in my own home. How about great pillows ;)

Love your LofL finds. Love the name Fiona. Marija

i like the white background floral fabric for your chair, as long as it's the only major "color/pattern" element in the room. i have the same color commitment issues, but that fabric is so beautiful, i would never get tired of seeing it, unless there are other elements in the room that vie for my attention.

love that fabric on the chair and ottoman. it's NOT too much - and this is coming from a gal who's every piece of upholstered furniture is off-white canvas. do it.

Are the fabrics similar in tone enough to mix/combine them? Do the back and sides of the chair and the base of the ottoman in the black and the front/seat of the chair and the top of the ottoman in the white? That way it is obviously and completely over the top on purpose!

Love your purchases!! I got a bathing suit. Where were the candles?

Stopped by the local Target yesterday to see if they might have pulled out have some of the Liberty stuff early--nada.

Love your picks and the white floral fabric.

love the liberty swag and think you should go for it with that fabric on your chair and ottoman!

As my husband commented above, I just came home with some Liberty stuff and was about to do a blog post on it too. Great minds, right?

I love your Suzani print for the chair. I think it would absolutely jazz it up and not be too much. It actually reminds me of the Kathryn Ireland suzani fabric Blue Hydrangea initially wanted in her house. If you're afraid you might get sick of it, maybe cover the chair in a solid and use the suzani to cover an accent pillow. I love it!

Our target didn't have it all out yet. I scored some of the same stuff as you!!!! I'm going back tomorrow to get more.

No flies on you!
What a cute score.
About the chair - wait and save for the Lee Jofa. I just used it for a client for a headboard and it so worth the money.
In the meantime, get your fix by making pillows out of all that cute fabric, and toss them around.
xo xo
PS Your house is adorable!!!!

why not make pillows out of the fabric? low commitment.

Sharnel said...

I don't know the Lee Jofa fabric, so I can't make an informed decision.
However, I do like this fabric. If you are a scaredy cat and can't commit, do as the other's have suggested and make some pillows.
Come on, you've got balls. Make the hard decision biarch.
Love the dresses for Fiona. i'm going to have to sweet talk a friend in the States to send some to me.

LOVE the fabric, both of them,
I say go for it, it will "spring" up the room, or make pillows as a start of your color voyage

I think the chair and the ottoman would look great in the same light pink/red fabric and do a lumbar pillow in the dark! AMAZING!!!!!! Best o'luck with your new project! The cat poop box can get something else!

You're right, J., we did buy a lot of the same things. Fiona and The Pea can be twinsies.

I almost bought the Violet Fig candle but was worried about how it would burn. I've had bad luck in the past with Target stinkbombs, er, candles.

That fabric would be awesomesauce on your chair. And I LURVE the idea of the ottoman in the contrasting yet complimentary black fabric.

Hugs and inappropriate groping,

R.

1. Love the fabric. I say go for it. You only live once, right?! Enough with the beautiful beige/cream takeover!
2. Can you tell us the names on those fabrics? The dark one looks like Braemore. ???

love the fabrics and I think the suzani one would be a good place to start to get used to colour - but I never met a big floral print I didn't like so ... what about actual curtains vs a cat curtain?

I was so busy creating my own blog, I forgot that today is the big LOL day! Thanks for reminding me. Of course I went and ended up getting the pleated dress and the peacock mug.

I almost bought that same suzani fabric for my chairs(they didn't have enough yardage and I am too impatient to order more). I say go for it! OR use the darker fabric for the chair and ottoman and the lee joffa fabric for a lumbar pillow and maybe the piping.

I was going to comment on your cool LOL finds and the dishy fabric but got distracted by the hot man in your new header. All that hay and no one rolling in it? Tsk tsk...

Love the fabric...Do it!

Honey...someone is hanging for spring alright! You got flowers on da brain.
That fabric..intended for that sofa chair...HAS GOT TO HAPPEN..it rocks...as does your bra...whats that..a DDD...and no knickers to match?
You did good lovey! x

Piping in a dark green color would be freakingcool for the chair. Add a solid color lumbar pillow. Schwing.

rachellovecameron said...

So jealous of your Target proximity.
You TOTALLY need to cover that chair and ottoman in the suzani fabric!

Love how you used the swan to hold the candles...definitely 'borrowing' that idea :)

Anna loved the LoL stuff at Target too so I bought her some even though she already got boatloads of clothes for her birthday.

I think the Vamp had good advice if your heart is set on Lee Joffa then you should wait. HOWEVER, if Lee Joffa is not in the budget for the next 5 or 10 years then no one should have to wait that long. I, myself am an instant gratification type and would do the suzani in a heart beat, it's not too much.

I LOVE the fabric and am a huge fan of patterns, but on furniture it often frightens me. I think it will make it difficult to incorporate much else into the room and make the room hard to redecorate in the future unless you intend on recovering it every time. It may be better used as pillow covers and kitty curtains.

I love the first fabric, gorgeous!

The target I went to yesterday was super-disappointing, I only came away with a candle.

I'm hitting up a different Target tonight though, have Liberty, will travel!

If you ever want the Lee Jofa fabric, I could order it for you at my price. It is on back order until May 15th, they only have 2 yards in stock, if that makes you feel any better.

C'mon chica! spice up your life that Jofa Cream Confetti is so safe. I love the first fabric and think you should go for it! It is only fabric.

hell yes to that fabric on the chair!!!!!!
love, love, love it.
(what did you think of C.A. last night?)

I got up early to get to Target on sunday and they were just putting the crap out. Then the lady got annoyed at me when I was asking her what else was in the back and when it would be out. Screw them! I wondered around the store for two hours and kept coming back to see what else had been taken out before giving up. I'm going back today to follow up. I did get two of those candles though. So fragrant!

For the chair, I say go for the white suzani and break it up with maybe a solid black pillow with a small texture to it. Then it won't feel so overwhelming.
C'mon do it already!

i love love love that fabric. I say do it. Throw a solid pillow on it and you're set.

Love the white and pinks, use it on the chair only, have the uphol. do the chair without the tuffing! so it doesn't mess up the pattern
Find a solid colour you love out of the fabric, for the ottoman (no tuffing again) and have a lumbar pillow made from the same solid with a decadant trim, maybe fringe? Remember to have the legs restained in expresso to have the pieces be grounded to the floor... I can not see the other pieces in the room to help totally but if you are asking about only the chair and ottoman in a fun fabric this is what I would have done for a client...and trust me the tuffing on a pattern gets lost and screws up the look of the piece...

Are you going to the Princess Diana exhibit? Would love to see a blog on that-

Love Liberty- the store in London is supercool!

Hate when stuff gets put out early!

Don't be afraid girl. I think you'll love it! I say go for the all over look on the fabric. But if it's too much color/pattern for you, then how about putting the print on the chair back and the seat cushion and then choosing a solid, perhaps in linen, for the rest of the chair. Just pull a solid color you like from the print. I also kinda love the idea of the lighter textile on the chair and the black background on the ottoman. Mix it up, have fun. Life's too short to take your furniture seriously! :0)

As for the Liberty, I just got back from Tarzhay, I was kind of disappointed with the quality of the women's wear. I did get a swinsuit coverup and some melamine bowls. However, the little girls' offerings are totally adorable, but no little girls for me.

love the white/pink fabric but understand how hard it is to commit to a print! i really liked camdesign ideas (print on chair, solid on ottoman) and nkp comment too. it is funny how we agonize over our design choices in our own homes! can't wait to hear what you decide. i was chicken & went for a solid indoor/outdoor fabric on my chairs but at least it is red!

That white fabric will look so awesome! I like the black one too!

I also hit up Target yesterday. They didn't have everything out yet, but I did buy that black and white jumpsuit. I will return today!
